Abraham Lincoln signed letter to Major General George Meade
This document is very consequential as Abraham Lincoln writes to Major General George G. Meade, commander of the Army of the Potomac at the time. “Major General Meade Army of the Potomac: I am appealed to on behalf of John Murphy, to be shot tomorrow. His mother says he is but seventeen. Please answer, A. Lincon.” This led to a series of communications between the two. Forbes magazine wrote an article on this document when TLHC acquired it.
